The chartreuse of the Chateau de Camensac was built in the 18th century and the Popp family owned the Chateau.

The Chateau de Camensac was classified in 1855 to the range of 5th Grand Cru Classé.
At the end of the 19th century the Chateau de Camensac was acquired by the wine trading company H.Cuvelier.

It is at this time that the castle creates a white wine called "Haut-Camensac".

In 1964,
the Chateau de Camensac was bought by the Forner family who also owned the Chateau Larose-Trintaudon and Marques de  Carceres Castles, a great wine in Rioja - Spain.


In 2005
the castle is bought by the Merlaut family.

The Chateau de Camensac produces a second wine named "Second of Camensac"
