Like many vineyard in the Medoc, the history dates back to the 17th century.

In 1680 it is Jean Baptiste Branaire (notary in Bordeaux) who bought part of the estate from a vineyard division of Château Beychevelle.
The Duluc family built the castle in 1824. In 1856, Louis Duluc died and he had no heir so it was his nephew, Gustave Duluc, who inherited the castle in 1857. In early 1900 the two sons,

Louis and Justin Duluc inherit the property and name it Château Braneyre.
After their death, the castle was passed to descendants Gustave Ducru. Today and since 1988, Château Branaire-Ducru belongs to a family chaired by Patrick Maroteaux.

Chateau Branaire-Ducru produces 2 wines: Chateau Branaire-Ducru and Duluc de Branaire Ducru
