Yield: 80 quintals per hectare.
Aged: Oak barrel during 12 months

This modern cut reflects the great expressiveness that reach the varietals in the ighlands Mendoza. A conjunction of 50% Malbec from Chacras Coria in Luján de Cuyo, 20% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot from Gualtallary in Tupungato, who as a great exponent of the present and the future of Mendoza wines. Show shades that decant towards the garnet red color, with good concentration and intensity. On the nose the fruit is perceived Malbec sweet red, the soft spicy aromas of Cabernet Franc, the elegance of green notes and hay given by Petit Verdot and the freshness of Merlot. Likewise, the nuances that provides aging in barrels. Upon entry into the mouth, the sweet attack precedes a very good volume accompanied by a fresh natural acidity and sweet and lively tannins. The ending is kind intense, demonstrating with clarity the concept of balance we seek.

Santiago López - Mendoza, 1981, graduate of the school of Islas Malvinas, Santiago Lopez offers a sincere product cuisine with a particular emphasis on the most renowned techniques of international gastronomy, but with a distinctly Mendoza profile, both in respect ingredients only in the combination of flavors. His work experiences include the Huentala Hotel, Optimo Restó and Casa Margot, before landing as Executive Chef at Clos de Chacras Restó in 2013.

 

 

The first vintage of Clos de Chacras dates from 2004. Clos de Chacras was built in 1921 and was part of a larger project called "Bodegas y Viñedos Gargantini". The first generation of the Gargantini family from Switzerland settled in Argentina at the end of the 19th century. Originally, they lived in the Italian-speaking city of Ticino. It was in Mendoza that Don Bautista Gargantini (second generation) managed to create the largest winemaking project of the time.

Over the years, the three wineries that belonged to this company changed hands several times until they were abandoned in the late 1970s. Then in 1987, Bautista's granddaughter, Silvia Gargantini , bought one of the wineries to take over the family business and honor his work.

 

Silvia and her husband, Alejandro Genoud decided to restore the building while preserving the original architecture; they have added new technology to produce high quality wines. The Genoud family is also part of the history of local winemaking because Alejandro's great-grandfather, engineer Cesar Cipolletti, helped create a better and more efficient irrigation system in Mendoza. This system allowed people to cultivate in areas where it was previously impossible.

 

As descendants of these visionary families, Silvia and Alejandro had the skills to produce high quality wines. Their work and the work of their families represents the message they intended to transmit to the new generations: the love of their land and its fruits.
